I'm definitely going to add a cpl. of these to my list! "When Breath Becomes. Air" is probably the most profoundly moving book I have ever read. It is a quick read that leaves a very long lasting impression..... beautifully written, inspiring and heartbreaking. I know we typically have different taste in books, but please read this!

Ooh... some good ones. The lists shifts and changes, depending on what comes to mind on a given day - note to self, maybe keep a list! Those that come to mind:

Cutting for Stone - Abraham Verghese

Most books by Maggie O'Farrell, though The Vanishing Act of Esme Lennox, or Hamnet (also published in the UK as Hamnet and Judith) stand out.

Fates and Furies by Lauren Groff

Favourite comfort read: the Cazalet Chronicles (5 novels, starting with The Light Years) by Elizabeth Jane Howard. (WWII-era sprawling family saga)

Favourite (modern) classics: Brideshead Revisited, The Great Gatsby

Demon Copperhead was also my book of the year and Still Life is in my top 10 of all time. Loved it. What a great list, Heather, and I see many books on there that are on my list to read. I will also check out St Henri books when I am next in Montreal! Some of my all-time favourite books are:

A Secret History by Donna Tart.

The Goldfinch by Donna Tart

A Gentleman in Moscow by Amor Towles

A Fine Balance. By Rohinton Mistry

Brooklyn by Colm Toibin

Birdsong by Sebastian Faulks

Tender is the Night by F Scott Fitzgerald

The Windup Bird Chronicle by Haruki Murakami

Love in the Time of Cholera by Gabriel Garcia Marquez

I am sure as soon as I click post, I will remember many more! Thanks for opening this conversation.
